Price is Right, Destroy the Runner, & Project 86

The Price is Right had a guest appearance from Thousand Foot Krutch on Friday. The show is not yet available online, but if I can ever find it, I will try and post it. No word yet on if the guys were able to win anything of the show, but if they didn't, I am sure they will just say they were "just glad to be there"

Destroy the Runner is coming back. If you loved their first album "Saints", you should keep your eyes open for the B-Side from that album called "Sinners", that will be released shortly this month. Also of Note, the group says they are working on their new album, and if you want to know more, watch the video below

Finally, Project 86 has a contest going on where you can win either a bass from them or a 6 by 6 Rival Factions Backdrop. All you have to do is buy their second last album Rival Factions and then send the receipt to prove that you got their album. If your name is chosen.. BOOM... You Win! Free Day of Fire, Underoath is Feeling Charitable, & An Update from Spoken

Who does not love free music? Maybe I should clarify. Who does not love free LEGAL music? Day of Fire would like to hook their fans up with a free MP3. All you have to do is go to their mailing list and sign up and BOOM. The song is all yours

In other news, Underoath has donated an autographed Warped Tour Skate Deck to Unite the United. This is an organization that is working with Prader-Willi syndrome. As of this moment, the deck is only 50 bucks, but since it is on eBay, that price could go up, so if you want it, get a bid in now (Click Here)

Finally, Spoken has been quiet for the past little while, but the boys have given us an update. Currently, they are in a desperate need of a new Van, and our currently getting donations for it, BUT if you have always wanted to get a Spoken shirt and want to help the band out with the new van drive, you are in luck. They are currently selling T-shirts for 8 bucks, which is a STEAL

Norma Jean's new label, More Anberlin

This week in news, Norma Jean has a new love with Razor & tie Records. Here is what Cory Brandan (lead singer) of the group had to say

"If we didn't sign to Razor & Tie, I think we would have gone on a killing spree, with no regard for life or limb. I think for the first time in our career, upon presenting our ideas, we get to hear the word "yes" more often. It's like discovering an unknown tribe on a distant island. Except we're the tribe and we don't know your language. Plus we have spears and swords and we're cannibals. Either way, we're insanely animated about R&T showing up and want to try on their Nike Air Jordans. "

They are expected to head into the studio soon to work on album that is expected to come out in the summer

Anberlin will be re-releasing New Surrender. What can you expect? New artwork, B-sides, new photos, the video for Feel Good Drag and much more. You can find out more at www.anberlin.com

MxPx is hopefully taking Christmas songs from the past, and releasing them all as one complete package for the Christmas season. To find out the full scoop, check out this video

Project 86, The Almost, and Christmas Music!!

Andrew Schwab has two professional loves. He is the lead man for Project 86, and on the side, he is an author. He has written books such as We Caught You Plotting Murder, Do Not Disturb, and It's All Downhill from Here. His next book will be called "Fame Is Infamy", which will be hitting stores next month

The Almost have a new album coming out November 3rd called "Monster, Monster", but they are releasing an EP called Monster EP on October 6th to Hot Topic. Odds are very good that will be on iTunes very shortly as well. Also of note, their next single is "Hands" and you will here it this Saturday night on the Red Hot Music Preview

Final note, Family Force 5 is releasing their Christmas album. It's called "Christmas Pageant" and will be out on store shelves October 6th. Here are the projected tracks on the album

1 Carol of the Bells
2 Do you Hear what I Hear?
3 Christmastime is Here
4 Little Drummer Boy
5 My Favorite Things
6 It's Christmas Day
7 Angels We Have Heard on High
8 Wonderful Christmastime
9 That Baby
10 Twas The Nite Before Christmas

Have yourselves a great week!

Fireflight goes acoustic, Project 86 works on new video

Project 86 is working on a new music video for their song Dark Angel Dragnet. I am really interested in it. "My Will Be A Dead Man" and "Spy Hunter" had great music videos that were fun and worked well together, so I am hoping that the same works for this new one

Fireflight is going acoustic for an EP. It will be called "Unbroken and Unplugged". It will be in stores October 6th, and here is the track listing

1. Stand Up
2. Brand New Day
3. Forever
4. Unbreakable
5. You Decide

I can't wait for either of these releases

Austrain Death Machine, Inhale Exhale, and Skillet

If you are a fan of As I Lay Dying, and you have not checked out Tim's side project yet. Go do that now. They are called Austrian Death Machine, and they have another album coming out called "Double Brutal". It's on two discs for twice the awesomeness

Check them out there here (MYSPACE)

Inhale Exhale have picked a date for their next release called "Bury Me Alive". It will be October 6th, and the tracklisting and art work on Solid State's website. (Link here)

And finally, I did not see this happening, but Skillet's brand new album Awake dominated the Billboard Top 200 chart last week. It was only behind Colbie Caillat's latest, and my theory is that if Skillet was also played on Disney radio like Colbie, they would have easily gotten the top spot

Good News /Bad News for Demon Hunter

If you are going to do something like this, always talk about the good news first. The good news with Demon Hunter is that they are going to be putting out another in 2010, but they are not going to do with the same band that they have had before...

"Firstly, we would like to officially announce some lineup changes that we've recently undergone and will undergo in the coming months. My brother, Don, whom I started this band with in 2001, has decided to leave the band due to increasing priorities with both his home life (not least of which are his two amazing kids, my niece and nephew), and his constant workload with the design firm that he and I continue to undertake together, Invisible Creature. I'm saddened to see Don leave, as we have shared so many great times together in the band, written some amazing songs together, played in bands together since we were teenagers, and built every aspect of this band from the beginning with a shared vision. However, Don's decision to move on comes with a deep understanding on my part. As he told me recently, he will continue to be "Demon Hunter's biggest fan," as he continues to watch the band progress.

We, as a band, and more specifically I, would like to give Don my most heartfelt "thank you" for everything he has contributed to this band from day one. We are forever grateful for the passion, vision, artistry and talent that you brought this band. You will be missed. We love you, and wish you the very best with every future endeavor.

Additionally, Ethan Luck, who has been with Demon Hunter since The Triptych (2005) has also decided to leave the band as his responsibilities with Relient K (in which he plays drums) continue to escalate. Ethan played a very essential role in recording and performing on both The Triptych and Storm The Gates Of Hell, and his professionalism and friendship are a vital part of what Demon Hunter has become over the last 4 years.

We would like to thank Ethan for all of his hard work, dedication and friendship. His contribution, in both craft and spirit have helped us become who we are as a band. We also wish Ethan all the best with whatever may lie ahead.

Patrick Judge, who filled in for Ethan during the Stronger Than Hell Tour and appears on the Live in Nashville album is now an official member of Demon Hunter. We are very pleased to welcome Patrick into the fold. His skill, devotion and drive have already proven to be instrumental in the continual evolution of the band and we're excited to see what the future holds with his inclusion.

Last, but not least, we have been busy working on material for our 5th album, which we will be entering the studio to record in October. At this point, I would say about 90% of the music has been written, and probably about 40% of the lyrics/melodies. As cliché as it can be to say, the album is shaping up to be heavier, faster, and more aggressive than previous Demon Hunter material (and there might be a ballad or two in there for good measure). As always, we're doing our best to maintain the classic DH sound, all while introducing some new and exciting ideas to keep things exciting. I'm extremely proud of what we have so far, and I can't wait to enter the studio and hear it come to life! "

3SN Trivia #1

Hey guys,

So this is the contest I was mentioning on the air. Basically, if you get these right, you have a chance of winning one of four Manic Drive's album Reset & Rewind. PLUS, you receive the feeling of just being awesome, and who doesn't want that. So here are your questions

1. The last single to come from Manic Drive was Blue. Who did they have featured in the song with them to take the song to the MAX?

2. The Stanley Cup finals went to seven games this year, where the Pittsburgh Penguins won 2 - 1. Who was the man to get both goals for the Penguins?

3. How many sides does the Pentagon have?

4. Tina Fey has become famous for her Sarah Palin impression on SNL, but just before that she started up a series called 30 Rock. What is her characters name in that show?

(BONUS QUESTION!!) The TV series Dinosaurs lasted four seasons. Not many of the voice actors went on to do a whole lot after the series except for one who played the baby aka Baby Bruce Sinclair and he moved onto a role in Seasame Street. What character does he play in Seasame Street?

If you know even just ONE of the answers to these questions, email them to me by using this address (junky AT lifeonline.fm minus the spaces)

Decyfer Down

If you have not heard, Decyfer Down has been hard as of late. Josh Oliver, the drummer of the group, has especially felt the hurt. The doctors have found a cancerous tumor in between her hearts and her lungs, and because of the location, cannot be removed surgically, so the doctors have advised her to take chemo. She has started her 18 week treatment, and right now, the band would love your prayers. Head over to their myspace/website if you want leave them a message

Tooth and Nail is back to the Penalty Box

One thing I used to love about Tooth and Nail was their cheap sampler CD's. Constantly, I would get asked from people who are new to music what album they should buy next. I would also send them to the "You Can't Handle the Tooth" samplers. You get over 20 tracks and it was less then 7 bucks. PERFECT. But for the longest time, they put this sampler on hold, HOWEVER it is back. They have just released "Songs From the Penalty Box Vol. 6" and you can pick it up for just 6.99 at Tooth and Nail.com or anywhere you buy your music when it comes out on May 19th

Here is the complete track list

1. Emery- The Smile, The Face

3. Ivoryline- Remind Me I'm Alive

6. The Classic Crime- Abracadavers
7. Thousand Foot Krutch- The Flame in All of Us

Relient K finds a new home

For the first time in their career Relient K will no longer be under Gotee records. After they put out the Bird and The Bee Sides EP last year, they had fulfilled their contract. So where are they going now? Here is Relient K with the scoop

"First off, we started recording the new record today! Right now we're working at Dark Horse Recording with our favorite producer, Mark Lee Townsend, and after we get some tracks recorded, we're going to travel back to CA to make some tunes with John Feldmann at the helm.

After we turned in The Bird And The Bee Sides, we fulfilled our first record deal (six albums) with Gotee Records. This made us free agents. Our plan? Matt Hoopes and I just signed up to begin positions as A&R for the soon to be resurrected Mono Vs. Stereo records. We'll sign a few bands a year, and also release Relient K's material through the label. We'll set up some email addresses soon with the specific purpose of receiving demos from unsigned artists. All this to say, we may eventually end up partnering up with the least evil of majors that expresses interest in giving us a helping hand. We'll just have to see. Fun stuff!!

Relientk.com is a temp site right now. Our apologies. Even though we're a bit notorious for having a terrible internet presence, we're planning an attempt to quickly rectify that reputation. Until then we'll lean on our myspace.

It's been a while since we've ventured out west (apart from Warped Tour), so we're going to do a short run of left side shows at then end of May. I've quickly become great friends with Adam Young from Owl City, and I'm really excited to announce that they'll be supporting us on all the dates. I'm also just as pleased to have Runner Runner and Classic Crime with us on selected dates... "

Please Enter the Studio

The snow is thawing. The birds are singing. And bands are heading back into the studio. It seems like everyone is working on new music. Showbread has announced they will be going in April 24th. Pillar is writing for their upcoming album which will have new members Rich Gilliland and Taylor Carroll on it. Day of Fire is currently in Asheville, that's right not Nashville, (apparently it's a little place in North Carolina) working on their next project. The new album from Emery, In Shallow Seas We Sail, now has a release date, it's coming out on June 2nd. Finally, the Devil Wears Prada has been busy working on their next release with Ferret Records. They have been giving us updates on it through their vlog, which you can see on youtube.

So which out of these releases are you excited for? Personally, I am kinda looking forward to new stuff from Day of Fire. They had a lot of potential back in the day, but never seem to go as far as I thought they would, so hopefully their third album can take them there.

Stolen Gear and Music Videos

This week, was a bitter sweet one. We got word that The Classic Crime was robbed in Seattle, and man are they mad. I do not blame them honestly. I am also getting annoyed with this. It feels like every month, I have to read off a story like this. If you would like to read the full story, check out TCC's blog (Click Here)

Here is the sweet news. Red has posted a brand new video for their song "Death of Me" (video below). This one of the new songs that comes off the new album in stores on the 10th. You can pre-order the new album by clicking HERE . The album comes in three versions. Standard, Deluxe, and Inferno. I am really looking forward to this new album. I am even tempted on getting the inferno edition, but I am not sure if my bank account will let me.

Flatfoot / Winter X Games

First off, Flatfoot 56 is going back into the studio. Heading to Absolute Sound in Houston, Texas on February, they will be working on their third studio album. The catch in all of this, is that they are no longer with Flicker Records. It's sad really. Who doesn't want a Celtic Punk band on their roster of artists? I am sure these guys will get signed, but for now they are working independently.

They are still keeping the website up to date, so if you want more details, just click here

Next, we have the Winter X Games and because Thousand Foot Krutch and Fireflight won Taco Bell's Feed The Beat contest, they are getting gigs that they could not before. So when Taco Bell got a stage at the games, they had to put these guys on there. Videos below of them playing in the snow

That's all for this week

Fireflight + Winter X Games??

I am not very shy when talking about what bands float my boat, and one of them is Fireflight. I am not sure I can explain my love for these guys, but you have been living under a rock for these past years make sure to take a listen to them over at their myspace (link)

Back on to my original topic. On Friday, these guys shall be preforming at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. It goes down at 4:30 (their time), and they are playing on the Taco Bell stage. I am not sure if this is on TV or not, but you can catch the games on ESPN and on ABC.

Showbread & Mario

To start off, word is that after Josh Dies comes off his solo acoustic tour, Showbread will start recording new material. They want to have a new album out around the summer. Seems a little fast to me. It was just last year that they gave us TWO albums (Anorexia & Nervosa), are we ready for another one? Looking up on the wiki, apparently this new album will be called "The Fear of God" but take that with a grain of salt.

Now, this is COMPLETELY random, but I was just looking around the net for kicks and giggles, and did I find a gem of a movie. Check this out...

Branching from Showbread

For a while, I have been talking about how Josh Dies is doing his own solo acoustic thing on the side. This weekend starts his own little tour. This guy is a man of many talents. Lead singer of Showbread, Solo Career, AND has his own children's book called "The Insect". Talk about diversifying. So on this tour, he is going to have on sale his book, his solo CD, and the live DVD of Showbread called "How Showbread Ruined My Life"

You can find out more here
